GdpR and Data Management Training for School Leaders and Boards of Management

This course will familiarise Schools Leaders and Members of Management Boards with their legal responsibilities regarding the Collecting , Sharing, Storing and Use of Data in the School setting. It will outline the requirements which need to be met in accordance with GDPR and will provide practical advice regarding same.

Learning Outcomes

This course promotes Good School Management and Leadership. As the LAOS ( Looking at our School) Document states, and in line with SSE, schools are charged with managing ' the school’s human, physical and financial resources so as to create and maintain a learning organisation'. Good Management of all Data gathered by a school, is an essential part of the overall effective Management and Leadership of the school, and is a vital and mandated aspect of Good Governance practice.

I have 40 years of experience in the Education Sphere, including 16 years in the Primary Classroom ,10 years with the Support Services (providing support in all areas of SPHE and Wellbeing , including Stay Safe , Walk Tall, RSE and Child Safeguarding), 2 years as Assistant National coordinator for Substance Misuse Prevention, and10 years as Director of Sligo Education Support Service. I completed a Masters in Conflict Resolution and Restorative Practices. I qualified as a Certified Mediator and in recent years completed GDPR Educator training. I currently work as an Assocaiate with Oide, as well as, a Champion RP Trainer with CDI (Childhood Decelopment Initiative) in Tallaght. I am also a member of the Adjunct Faculty in Hibernia College and guest lecturer with a number of other Teacher Training Colleges. As an Educational Consultant, I provide GDPR training to Management of both Primary and Post Primary Schools, other Educational Agencies as well as to Charities and other Commercial Organisations.
