unnamed

Back by popular demand, the first Community of Practice for Post-Primary Teachers of English, for the 2021-22 academic year, will take place on Wednesday 29 September at 7pm, focusing on the Leaving Certificate Higher Level Prescribed Poetry of Paula Meehan.

This workshop will focus on the poetry of contemporary Irish poet Paula Meehan, a new addition to the Leaving Certificate Higher Level English course, currently prescribed for Leaving Certificate English students in 2023, 2024 and 2026. An overview of all of Meehan’s poems will be provided, with a more detailed discussion on particular poems. Attendees will also be given a sense of the key themes and stylistic features of Meehan’s work, as well as potential plans/schemes of poems that could be covered with Higher Level classes.

The session will be presented by Joe Rolston and will last for approximately one hour.
