Building children’s word power

In this session we will look at how important it is to make children word rich through a variety of ways. Alphaboxes and the use of a question generator chart will be integral to this discussion. The creation of a talking storyboard will be linked to the story of the Matchbox Diary. Receptive and Expressive language games will be modelled and the central role of talk topics for children of different abilities will be emphasised. 

My name is Catherine Gilliland and I offer webinars for teachers. I have previously delivered throughout several  Education Centres. The feedback has been most positive with teachers finding the sessions very beneficial. I was a speaker at the World Literacy Summit and am published in the area of Literacy. I have 20 years experience of training teachers at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I delivered a very successful Literacy Summer SchooL in West Cork this Summer.In consultation with teachers I have designed a portfolio of webinars to deliver to teachers.
