SETU has launched a new Master of Education (MEd), designed to meet the needs of teachers, training professionals, current and aspiring educational leaders across all sectors of Education.  This part-time Masters programme is tailored for busy educational professionals seeking to deepen their knowledge of teaching, learning, and contemporary issues in Education whilst advancing their careers.

Dr. Clare Bolger, Programme Leader, highlighted the relevance of the MEd to teachers and education professionals “The MEd responds to and addresses contemporary issues in education, offering participants the opportunity to select from a diverse range of modules.  These include Digital Education, Inclusion in Education, Mentoring, Curriculum Design and Assessment, Innovation in Teaching and Learning, Environmental Sustainability in Education, and Wellbeing in Education.  Participants will also be supported to conduct research into areas of interest within their own professional practice.”

Recognising the demands on today’s educators, the MEd has been designed to provide maximum flexibility, enabling participants to balance their studies with work and personal commitments.  Delivered mainly online, the programme allows participants to engage with a community of practice, fostering collaboration and shared learning among professionals from diverse educational sectors.  Dr. Mary Fenton, Head of Department of Education, said that “By joining the MEd, participants will be part of a community of practice of engaged and committed educational professionals from a variety of sectors.  Through their studies, they will discuss and critique recent developments in Education and reflect upon and share good practice in teaching, learning and assessment.  This will enrich their understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing students and teachers so that they can continue to foster dynamic learning environments.”  She also added that “MEd graduates will be recognised as agentic, committed professionals, who are dedicated to improving the learning outcomes of their students.”

The MEd will begin in January 2025.
