Integration of FMS into PE with emphasis on GAA, Cricket and Inclusion

Integration of FMS into PE with emphasis on GAA, Cricket and Inclusion:

Sports Active Wexford have linked in with key National Governing Bodies to develop this course for teachers with a specific emphasis on Fundamental Movement Skills. The Fundamental Movement Skills module will be delivered by Dr Lisa Bolger and Dr Linda Bolger who will discuss their studies on FMS in primary schools and provide advice and examples for teachers based on primary school research.

Wexford GAA will deliver a certificate based course in the introduction to Gaelic Games Coaching and the role of the coach or teacher. There will be a specific focus on physical literacy and practical ideas for teachers in this module.

Cricket has become very popular in Wexford primary schools in recent years and Cricket Leinster will be delivering a workshop explaining all about cricket, its rules, how to get started and the different types of games that are available to primary schools.

The final module in this course will be delivered by CARA – a National pan-disability sport organisation. This module will focus on including all children regardless of ability in PE class.

This five day course will be interactive giving teachers new ideas and resources to bring back to their schools.
