English Community of Practice - Developing Students’ Capacity to Think and Write

Comparatively - from Junior Cycle to Leaving Certificate with Joe Rolston and Clare Madden

English Community of Practice 6th March 2023

Developing Comparative Skills from junior to senior cycle English

Developing students’ capacity to think and write comparatively, when approaching the study of various texts, is a key skill to develop in post-primary English, from Junior Cycle to Leaving Certificate. In this session, Clare will be focusing on practical strategies that embed comparative practice, within the classroom setting, for students in all year groups. Clare was one of the first guest presenters when this English Community of Practice began three years ago, and we are delighted to have her return for what will be another highly engaging presentation.

This Community of Practice session is aimed at all post-primary teachers of English but would be particularly helpful for newly qualified teachers, trainee teachers or those who are simply looking for new approaches to teaching in a comparative manner at Junior or Senior Cycle.
